Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #128 Hoof Hearted Konkey Dong

For anyone wondering…yes the joke of saying Hoof Hearted’s name was definitely lost on us at the time of this recording…

Hoof Hearted makes it’s debut in Nerd Den this week. This is KONKEY DONG!

Style: DIPA
Container: 16oz Can
Glassware: Nerdsense Snifters
Notes:Barrel fermented in Donkey Kong barrels and excessively dry hopped with Galaxy, Simcoe, and Dr. Rudi Hops from New Zealand. Dank and Juicy! Brewed in collaboration with Arcade Super Awesome (8%)
Rating: 4.5/5

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #127 Evil Twin Even More Jesus

Another solo review as I dive into Evil Twin’s Even More Jesus Imperial Stout!

Style: Imperial Stout
Container: 16oz Can
Glassware: Snifters
Notes: A few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all – it must taste rare! Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #125 Trophy Brewing Inside Joke

We have a collaboration brew between Trophy Brewing in Raleigh, NC and Night Shift in Everett, MA!

Style: DIPA
Container: 16oz Can
Glassware: Night Shift Flutes
Notes:Come check out this year’s collaboration between Trophy and Night Shift Brewing! Together we’ve created Inside Joke, a tasty Double IPA featuring Galaxy, Citra, and Simcoe hops. Whirlpool hop additions as well as heavy dry hopping give this beer a ton of great hop flavor and aroma, while a bit of turbinado sugar lends the beer a beautiful golden color. (8.6%)
Rating: 3.75/5

Nerdsense – Episode 103 – Iron Fist & Logan

On the latest episode of Nerdsense, the boys are swinging hard on Iron Fist. As per usual, though, the asides are coming fast. It’s tangent after tangent.

They also cover the latest of Fox’ Marvel offering, Logan. Is it the best “X-Men” film yet? Listen to find out. Cheers!

We also recorded a Nerdsense Drinks Half Pour during the podcast which you can check out below!

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #124 Trillium The Streets

Trillium just celebrated their 4th Anniversary and they released a a MASSIVE Triple IPA to celebrate. They took the base recipe of their Street series IPA’s and dry hopped the fuck out of it with Amarillo, Mosaic, Galaxy, El Dorado, Simcoe, & Nelson to make a 10% behemoth of a TIPA.

While editing the video I noticed we seemed a little lethargic at the beginning but this was not how we felt, I think we were just blown away so much that we were left a little speechless that a Triple IPA could be this well crafted.

Style: Triple IPA
Container: 16oz Can
Glassware: The Streets glass and Teku
Notes: Using the same base recipe as all our Street beers, we dry hopped with Amarillo, Mosaic, Galaxy, El Dorado, Simcoe, & Nelson. The Streets Triple IPA is a celebratory culmination of all the Streets beers we’ve brewed over the past 4 years.  (10%)

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #123 Night Shift Bennington

We have our first re-review! We reviewed Bennigton almost 100 episodes ago when Night Shift first brewed it before they were canning. It was our growler review!

Style: Stout
Container: 16oz Can
Glassware: Nerdsense Snifters
Notes: Oatmeal stout brewed with Dutch-processed cocoa and maple syrup (7%)
Rating: 4.5/5

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #122 El Segundo Steve Austin’s Broken Skull IPA

Mike and I are kinda sorta wrestling fans. We don’t watch Raw or Smackdown but follow the story line and try to watch most PPV’s. We were both huge wrestling fans when we were younger which is really the main reason we have been trying to get our hands on this beer.

Most craft beer lovers have a “Whale”. I call this our “Shelf Whale”

We are joined again by our good friend and HUUUGE wrestling fan, Nick.

A big thanks to Mike’s buddy and previous guest Spencer for sending this our way. Our shelf whale has been acquired!

In our excitement, Shaun forgot to hit record on the audio so this is the audio feed from the camera.

Style: IPA
Container: 22oz Bomber
Glassware: Snifters
Notes: Designed by Steve Austin and ESBC for the working man and woman. It features Citra, Chinook and Cascade hops to deliver big flavor with an easy finish. Now stop reading and start enjoying this awesome beer! Cheer! Steve!(6.7%)
Rating: “It’s Fair”

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #120 Epic Brewing Son of Baptist (Hogan Brothers Coffee)

This was done mostly to test some new setup stuff which all of you have seen in the last few videos. The audio is from the camera because in my excitement to test new electronics… I forgot to press record on the mixer audio.

Style: Imperial Stout
Container: 12oz Can
Glassware: Snifters
Notes: Designed to highlight the complex and often unique flavors of small batch coffees. Instead of sourcing a coffee that would play well in a beer we sought out creative and innovative roasters, then asked them which beans they’re passionate about. Each resulting release of Son of a Baptist is widely different depending on the coffee selected (8.0%)
