Nerdsense – Episode 101 – Holiday Special

It’s the 3rd annual Nerdsense Holiday Special! We’re joined by Mikes brother from the same mother, Josh! We open it the same as all the previous…with nerdy fucking gifts. We won’t tell you what we got because that would ruin the surprise! Who are we kidding, we just want you to view\listen.

It’s not all red and green lights, we also go into the latest CWDCTV Shows as well as discuss the new Spider-Man Homecoming trailer that just hit the interwebz!

Check out the video version! We’ve made a 20 minute video with just the beginning and gift exchange as well as the whole podcast! We had some camera issues about 4 minutes in and had to switch to our secondary camera.

Rating: 4.5/5

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #90 Night Shift The 87

With all the Night Shift reviews we’ve done, you’d think we’d have done one of their consistent flagship beers by now. I know Morph is one of their normal releases but it’s an ever changing recipe.

This week, Night Shifts Double IPA, The 87 makes it’s way to the table!

Style: DIPA
Container: 16oz Can
Glassware: Night Shift Flutes
Notes: Bright, beautiful DIPA hop bomb; clean malt bill that allows a refreshing blend of citrusy hops to burst through. (8.0%)
Rating: 4.5/5

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #89 Trillium Mettle

We got some Mettle from  Trillium! Originally brewed to celebrate their 1st Year Anniversary.

Style: DIPA
Container: 16oz Can
Glassware: Night Shift Flutes
Notes: In the spirit of tenacity and camaraderie, Mettle was first created to highlight the milestone of our inaugural year as a brewery. With an intense dual dry-hop treatment of Amarillo and Citra, this medium-bodied Double IPA beckons with aromatics of peach and nectarine. A fusion of grape juice and candied citrus greet the palate while accents of white-wine, grassy hop, and a mellow bitterness reveal themselves on a smooth, dry finish. We continue to brew Mettle in recognition of our devoted following of hopheads that have supported us from the very beginning. (8.4%)
Rating: 4.5/5

Nerdsense – Episode 100

We finally did it! We made it to Episode 100!

This episode was recorded live and streamed on YouTube on Friday December 2, 2016. It’s unedited and exciting! There are surprises for the audience and there was even a surprise for Mike as well.

The core of the episode is a discussion of the crossover event on CW, involving Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl, followed by a retrospective of the major comic book movies of 2016.

Fret not, our humble listeners…

We are still incapable of keeping our shit together and staying on topic. It’s a fun ride and we hope you enjoy it!

Cheers!

Notes: This edition brings together Bravo, Vic Secret, Simcoe, and Citra hops together to create a juicy, balanced IPA that bursts with citrus and tropical fruit flavors.

Nerdsense – Episode 99 & Nerdsense Drinks Reviews #87

In honor of the big CW DCTVU crossover this week, we decided to have a little crossover of our own! It’s crossover mania!

We crossed over the Nerdsense Podcast with the Nerdsense Drinks Reviews Videocast! It’s a videocast inside a podcast! Nerdsense – Episode 99 & Nerdsense Drinks Reviews Episode 87

Predictably, the conversation goes in a million directions with a discussion about podcasts, our long and storied friendship, and even a navy anecdote that goes nowhere.

The episode even starts with a brand new, full length, beer review of Rogue Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout. Check out the video below! Cheers!

Episode 100 airing Friday December 2nd. Watch our Twitter and Facebook accounts for stream details!

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #86 Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout 2014 Vintage

*Note* We had a camera issue so the last minute or 2 is just audio. Blame Logitech or Apple. It’s one of their faults.

In honor of the true Black Friday, we rummage through the cellar to find our 2014 Vintage Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout! Come along for the journey and watch as we bask in all it’s greatness or not so greatness. We recorded this on Thanksgiving night after some drinking so this may be interesting…

Style: Barrel Aged Imperial Stout
Container: 12oz Bottle
Glassware: Teku?
Notes: nice bourbon wet oak flavor, some dark, bitter chocolate and bitter coffee as well. It’s really rich and smooth with low carbonation, and it rolls off the tongue (14.4%)
Rating: 4.75/5

Nerdsense Drinks Reviews – #85 Trillium Deciduous (2016)

Finally! We have a Trillium can grace our table.  The lines have been drawn! Mike and I have to give separate scores for this one!

Style: Imperial Brown Ale
Container: 16oz Can
Glassware: Teku Glasses
Notes: The nose omits pleasant aromas of pine sap, toasted bread and orange marmalade. Deciduous embodies the seasonal transition from summer to winter with an herbaceous lemon and spicy pine aroma balanced on the palate with a hearty, multigrain malt character and clean, refreshing bitterness. Deciduous is medium in body and dry on the finish. (7.5%)
Rating:  Shaun3.75/5  Mike3/5
